Online Course Information
Drive Smart Idaho works in conjunction with “Idaho Online Driver Education” to bring you all the tools and resources needed to complete the in-classroom part of your Driver’s Education with online courses. Owner and classroom instructor, Brian Johns, of Idaho Online Driver Education has been in Idaho Driver’s Education for nearly 30 years. Brian was the state Director for all Driver Ed programs in Idaho for 5 years. To say the least, “He knows his stuff”. Brian is an Idaho native who knows the roads and driving patterns well. Drive Smart Idaho has selected Idaho Online Driver Education as a partner because of the flexibility and personalized high-quality instruction it offers to its students.
How Does the process worK?
Step 1: Enroll
Enroll in Drivers Ed online through Drive Smart Idaho by just providing a few basic details about the student and guardian (if applicable).
Step 2: Payment
To complete enrollment, you will make a single payment of $375 to Drive Smart Idaho. This payment will cover your online classroom instruction and also include in-person behind the wheel instruction.
Step 3: Online Classroom Instruction
Drive Smart Idaho will provide "Idaho Online Drivers Education" with your information. Idaho Online Drivers Education will reach out to you within 48 hours to give you full access to the online course work and begin classes.
Step 4: Progress
As you complete online courses with Idaho Online Driver Education, Drive Smart Idaho will receive updates on your progress. When you have completed 25% of your online courses, we will begin in-person behind the wheel driving instruction.
Step 5: Practice
As you work to complete your online courses, we will continue to schedule in-person behind-the-wheel driving instruction until you meet the State of Idaho's required time behind the wheel (6 hours).
Step 6: Driving Permit!
After completing online classroom instruction and fulfilling required in-person behind the wheel driving instruction, you will receive your Supervised Instruction Permit from Drive Smart Idaho.
