Schedule a Drive
You should only schedule a behind-the-wheel instruction drive if you are currently enrolled in a Drive Smart Idaho driver’s Ed course. Before scheduling a drive, please thoroughly read the notes below.
Behind-the-Wheel Scheduling Requirements
All behind-the-wheel (BTW) appointment requests require instructor approval. A drive is not scheduled until approved, and confirmation is sent only after approval.
Behind the Wheel Requirements:
- Student must be actively enrolled (Full Course or Behind-the-Wheel only) in Drive Smart Idaho.
- All drives are scheduled in 2-hour blocks. Contact us directly for special arrangements.
First Drive Scheduling (Full Course Students):
To schedule a first drive, students must:
- Complete 25% of online coursework (Unit 1)
Requests that do not meet these requirements will be denied.
Final Drive Scheduling (Full Course Students):
To schedule a final drive, students must:
- Complete all online coursework
- Have all fees paid in full
- Complete the Student Observation Log. Log must be uploaded via our website (click here to upload) or have it in person for final drive. More information on the Student Observation Log can be found here.
Requests that do not meet these requirements will be denied or Student will not receive their permit.
Service Areas & Meeting Locations:
Drive Smart Idaho serves Owyhee County (within 20-mile radius of Marsing, ID) and Canyon County. Pick-up and drop-off locations must be within the service area. Contact us before scheduling if special arrangements are needed. Note – There is no guarantee we will meet special requests.

Scheduling Wait List
If a drive appointment is unavailable, Students may joint the wait list. If a spot opens due to a cancellation, an email notification will be sent to the used to register for the drive. Receiving the email does not automatically schedule the drive — you must follow the link in the email and request the appointment. Availability is first come, first serve, so prompt action is required.
- Due to tight scheduling and volume of Students, the Student must arrive to appointments on time. If Student is more than 10 minutes late, the appointment will be cancelled.
- I do my best to keep all appointments as scheduled, but sometimes “life” does happen! Scheduled drives are weather and road-conditions permitting. In the unlikely event I need to cancel and/or adjust a Student’s drive date or time, I ask for your patience, grace, and forgiveness.
Failure to follow the guidance above will result in your drive appointment request being denied.
